July 9 – 15, The base for the 2019 Stevne will be the Scandic Hotel Fagernes. You’ll enjoy breakfast daily at the hotel, and dinner will be included every day. Inclusion of lunches will be determined by the sightseeing and activities, then included if logistically necessary. Day trips and activities will be planned which will focus on the culture, outdoor life, food, music, history and lifestyle of Valdres.
The 2019 Stevne dates were selected to coincide with the dates of the Jørn Himle-Stemnet, as was done in 2014. This popular week-long folk music festival takes place annually at the Valdres Folk Museum, which is within walking distance of the hotel. The festival includes a variety of musical performances and participation dances, and is a lot of fun!
Some of the activities of past Stevnes have been popular, and we will include them again, however with different locations (sightseeing areas, different church for the Sunday service):
- Welcome reception at hotel with local dignitaries
- Attend the music events of the Jørn Himle-Stemnet music festival at the Valdres Folk Museum
- Genealogy services
- Time for shopping, visiting relatives, relaxing
- Sunday church service with parade and lunch
