This exclusive flying safari takes you to the famous sights of northern Tanzania, including Tarangire National Park with its distinctive baobab trees and swamps, the iconic Ngorongoro Crater, and the famous plains of the Serengeti.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrive Kilimanjaro/Arusha, Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met and transferred by a private vehicle to Mount Meru Hotel, situated at the foothills of Mount Meru in the city of Arusha. Overnight at Mount Meru Hotel

Day 2Fly to Tarangire National Park | Meals: B L D

Early this morning, you will be met in the hotel lobby and transferred by private vehicle to the Arusha airstrip for your onward scheduled flight departing at 8:00 a.m. to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to Swala Camp in our customized open safari vehicle; driving time is approximately 30 minutes with game viewing en-route. As you arrive at your camp you will be greeted by your personal tent attendant and taken to your tent to freshen up. Overnight at Swala Tented Camp

Day 3Exploring Tarangire National Park | Meals: B L D

This morning awake to the sounds of the bush as a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee is served on your tent’s deck. You may like to visit the nearby Mwika Village honey project. This project is an initiative developed by Swala to support local people from the surrounding rural areas. Lunch can be organized either at the Village with Beekeepers, or you can return to the camp. This afternoon you have time to take a refreshing swim in the pool or relax on your private deck with a cool drink and gaze out to the waterhole and watch as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the mid-day sun. As the afternoon progresses you may like to return to the Tarangire on an afternoon game drive. Return to your lodge to freshen up before meeting around the camp fire for a pre-dinner drink as you discuss the day’s adventures. Overnight at Swala Tented Camp

Day 4Maasai Village Cultural Visit | Meals: B L D

Leave camp this morning to transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Manyara departing at 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival, your driver/guide will transfer you to the Ngorongoro highlands in a custom made 4WD safari vehicle. Arrive at the camp in time for lunch. Following lunch you have the opportunity to visit a nearby Maasai village. Meet with a village elder who will introduce you to the life of the Maasai, their culture and traditions. A great photo opportunity as well as time for bartering for crafts. Return to your camp for a sun downer before settling in for dinner. Overnight at Ngorongoro Crater Camp

Day 5On Safari in Ngorongoro Crater | Meals: B L D

Awake early this morning, leaving camp early to descend to the crater floor by 4WD vehicle for a day of game viewing with the spectacular back drop of the crater wall at every turn. Your game drive today will be like no other as you visit one of the most dramatic safari destinations in Africa, the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend to the crater floor in search of the Big Five with the backdrop of the forest covered crater walls surrounding you, creating stunning back drops for all of your wildlife photographs. Travel through the Lerai Forest looking for leopard and onto the plains where the wildebeest and zebra graze while cheetah and lion lay and watch. Old elephants pass your vehicle while further afield rhino wander and hippos hide in the pools. There is a picnic lunch by the hippo pools. Return to camp this afternoon with time for a hot shower before pre dinner drinks by the camp fire as you discuss the day’s adventures. Overnight at Ngorongoro Crater Camp

Day 6 Fly to Serengeti National Park | Meals: B L D

Early morning transfer back to Manyara airstrip for your onward schedule flight to the Serengeti departing 9:00 a.m. Upon arrival you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred to camp, with game viewing enroute. Arrive at your camp with time to freshen up before lunch is served. This afternoon discover why the Serengeti is an icon of Africa on an afternoon game drive. The open plains spread out as far as the eye can see so it’s no surprise that the name Serengeti comes from the Maasai language meaning “endless plains.” Every year 1.5 million wildebeest migrate from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara followed by hundreds of thousands of zebra, gazelle and other plains game in search of fresh grazing pastures. Return to your camp to freshen up before dinner. Following dinner this evening retire to the Kopjie where you may take this rare opportunity to enjoy an optional star safari as the camp manager unravels the myths of the night sky. Kusini Tented Camp

Days 7-8Game Drive in Serengeti National Park | Meals: B L D

Over the next two days you can opt for a full day game drive into the heart of the Serengeti with a picnic lunch, or remain close to camp with morning and afternoon game drives. The area around Kusini is famed for its cheetah. In the evening return to camp and climb to the top of the Kopje for stunning 360 degree views of the Serengeti. Relax with your preferred drink as you watch the setting sun paint the Serengeti with pinks, oranges and reds. Settle in at the dining tent for a deliciously prepared meal before retiring to your tent after an eventful day of game viewing. Overnight at Kusini Tented Camp

Day 9Depart Arusha, Tanzania | Meals: B

Scheduled flight back to Arusha to connect with your onward arrangements or dayroom and transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward arrangements.
