This safari has been designed to provide you with a wonderful mix of habitats, activities, and accommodations. We love the slower pace to be able to explore each area and appreciate getting to know the warm Zambian hospitality.

There are a wide variety of camps and we’ll work with you to create a memorable journey designed with you in mind!

Itinerary
This is a sample itinerary. Our Destination Specialists will work with you to create an itinerary to meet your preferences.

Day 1Arrive Livingstone, Zambia | Meals: D

On arrival at Livingstone Airport, you will be met and transferred to your lodge located along the mighty Zambezi River. Overnight at a Livingstone Lodge

Day 2Explore Victoria Falls | Meals: B L D

The day is yours to relax or explore. Your lodge choice will have a menu of activities to consider (some included, others additional cost): a guided tour of Victoria Falls; shopping at a curio market; sunset cruise on the Zambezi River; fishing (seasonal and strictly catch and release); cultural tour of a local village or a picnic island lunch. You can also choose to take part in one of the more adventurous activities on offer, such as bungee jumping and white water rafting (own account). Overnight at a Livingstone lodge

Day 3Travel to South Luangwa National Park | Meals: B D

Scheduled flight to Lusaka, connecting with a flight to Mfuwe. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your lodge just inside South Luangwa National Park.

This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game – giraffe, buffalo, antelope, crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon. In November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree. Overnight at Mfuwe Lodge

Day 4Exploring South Luangwa National Park | Meals: B L D

For wildlife, and wildlife-lovers, it doesn’t get any better than the South Luangwa National Park. With its verdant floodplains rustling with huge herds of game, mopane woodlands, and a mighty river that attracts thirsty animals like a magnet, it’s a natural utopia and one of Africa’s truly great wildlife sanctuaries. Walking safaris can be arranged on request, but the majority of outings are game drives, allowing guests to explore as much of this prolific region of the Luangwa Valley as possible. Overnight at Mfuwe Lodge

Days 5-6First Bush Camp | Meals: B L D

A morning game drive to your first bush camp. This safari is built around 3 different stays in different areas of this vast park. Your Borton Overseas Specialist will help you decide which of these camps is right for you!

Lodge options:

Bilimungwe BushcampTake advantage of the exceptional knowledge and charm of Bilimungwe Bushcamp’s resident guide Manda Chisanga, and head out with him on a combination of walking safaris, day and night game drives, and sundowners on the river’s edge. In between outings, find a chair and enjoy the wildlife magnets that are Bilimungwe’s three permanent waterholes. Who needs satellite television when you have your very own “bush TV” to entertain you?

Kapamba BushcampGet out into the bush at Kapamba Bushcamp and explore the rich diversity of the surrounding area on guided morning and afternoon walks, or jump into a Land Rover for a driving safari (day or night). On special occasions, an afternoon of wading through the cool waters of the Kapamba River, with a scenic sundowner or special meal, can be arranged for you.

Zungulila BushcampIf you long to explore Africa as it used to be, then come to Zungulila Bushcamp. Expert guides will lead you on foot through some of the park’s most untouched wilderness, where large herds of buffalo roam the grassy plains and thirsty elephants come to drink at the springs and along the river. Activities are focused around walking, but there are a number of game drive loops in the area and so to get even further afield, day and night game drives are also on offer. In the evening, after wading through the river, join your hosts for sundowners, or sit around the campfire for a drink, before recounting the day’s adventures over a starlit supper overlooking the river.

Lodge options:

Chamilandu BushcampWalking safaris and game drives around Chamilandu Bushcamp explore the impressive range of habitats in the area. With no fewer than seven oxbow lagoons behind camp, there are always thirsty animals around seeking refreshment. Our hide looks out over one of these lagoons and is the perfect place to take lunch, tea or to while away an afternoon in a hammock to the soundtrack of bathing elephant.

Kuyenda BushcampTop of the list has to be a walking safari with Kuyenda Bushcamp’s resident guide, Phil Berry. Whether you are looking at a leopard or a termite, Phil’s enthusiasm and seemingly limitless knowledge of all things wild will keep you hanging off his every word. With some of the South Luangwa’s most diverse and breathtaking landscape situated around Kuyenda Bushcamp, you can guarantee that no two outings will ever be the same.
