A wonderful combination of experiences and destinations has been crafted into this intimate 14-day journey of the senses. This itinerary gives you the opportunity to explore two vastly different game areas on safari, enjoy Cape Town’s Winelands and historical sites, and immerse yourself completely in South Africa’s culture. Great for both the first timer and the repeat African traveler, the pace of this adventure will allow you to enjoy and savor the hospitality of your South African hosts at each hand-picked property.

Day 1Arrive Johannesburg, South Africa

Welcome to Johannesburg! You will be met and assisted with your arrival. You will then be shown to the complementary shuttle that will whisk you away to your hotel for a welcome rest. Overnight in Johannesburg

Days 2-4On Safari in Phinda Private Game Reserve | Meals: B D

Scheduled flight to Phinda. Shared activities include morning and afternoon game drives, nature walks, excellent birding, river cruises and canoeing and village visits. This safari area is known for Burchell’s zebra, Southern white rhino, and excellent population of cheetah, among other wildlife. Overnight at Phinda

Days 5-6Travel to Durban area | Meals: B

Private road transfer to Durban. The fabulously bright red and white Oyster Box Hotel is a five-star luxury hotel located on the seafront in Umhlanga, approximately 12 miles north of Durban. Perfectly placed on the ocean’s edge opposite Umhlanga’s iconic red and white lighthouse, the Oyster Box boasts breathtaking sea views and exudes classical charm, elegance and romance. Days 7-9On Safari at Kariega Private Game Reserve | Meals: B L D

Scheduled flight from Durban to Port Elizabeth (flight not included). Upon arrival at Port Elizabeth you are met and transferred to Kariega.

Located in a remote and untouched part of the Kariega wilderness, Settlers Drift offers a unique tented safari combined with five-star luxury. Activities offered are game drives (twice daily), river cruises and walking safaris. Overnight at Kariega Settlers Drift

Day 10Travel to Cape Town | Meals: B

After breakfast, you have a private transfer to Port Elizabeth Airport for your flight to Cape Town (flight not included). Upon arrival you are met and have a private transfer to your hotel in Cape Town. Evening at your leisure to explore the city, enjoy one of the many restaurants, or enjoy the fabulous nightlife. Overnight in Cape Town

Day 11Private Half Day Cape Town Tour | Meals: B

Today you get to explore the city of Cape Town, known affectionately as the Mother City, on a private half day tour. Your tour will take in the Houses of Parliament, the Castle (built between 1666 and 1679, this is South Africa’s oldest building), the lively Greenmarket Square with its daily market, the Company Gardens and, of course, Table Mountain, which will give you spectacular views over the city and the Peninsula. As you come back down from the mountain, make a stop at Bo-Kaap, home to the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly colored houses. From here you have the choice of being dropped off at the Waterfront to experience this vibrant location at your own pace, with its many shops, restaurants and pubs, or at your hotel to end the tour. Overnight in Cape Town

Day 12Private Full Day Tour of Cape Point and the Peninsula | Meals: B

Today you embark on a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. Take in the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, before crossing over to Hout Bay, where you may choose to join an optional boat cruise to Seal Island. From here you drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives, where you will board funicular to get to the top of the Peninsula to witness the symbolic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and enjoy spectacular views over False Bay. After lunch (on own account), continue to Simonstown, the naval base, and visit the African Penguin breeding colony at Boulders Beach. Time permitting, stop at the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Gardens before arriving at your hotel. Overnight in Cape Town

Day 13Private Full Day Winelands Tour | Meals: B

A wonderful day — with a designated driver! Your first stop is the University town of Stellenbosch, which boasts great beauty and culture that is steeped in South African history, for your first wine tasting of the day. You enjoy a second wine tasting at a nearby estate before taking time to enjoy the fabled culinary skills of the Franschhoek chefs at one of the many award winning restaurants (lunch not included in cost). Our last stop for the day is at a wine estate on the Paarl wine route. You return to the bustle of city life after an enthralling day in the countryside, arriving back at the hotel late afternoon The rest of the evening is at your leisure. Overnight in Cape Town

Day 14Depart Cape Town, South Africa | Meals: B

After breakfast you are transferred to the Cape Town Airport for your onward arrangements.
