This itinerary allows you to design your own independent adventure in Iceland with guided day tours. You’ll be based in Reykjavík and will select the day tours which interest you! You will explore the city, the countryside or participate in an activity.

Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Reykjavík, Iceland

Enjoy the bus transfer from the airport to the capital city past moss covered terrain and lava fields. Drop off your luggage at your hotel and spend some time at leisure enjoying the city. Join an afternoon tour today. Overnight in Reykjavík

Whale WatchingProfessional guides are on board the boat to help you make the most of your tour by pointing out the whales and other wildlife that may be seen.
Reykjavík Food TourGet acquainted with the city and its culture with a local guide, stopping at various dining establishments across the city to sample some of the best native Icelandic treats.
Northern Lights by Boat Sail out from Reykjavik harbor to search for the elusive Aurora Borealis on water, away from city lights. Warm suits and warm drink provided. (Available Sep 1 – Apr 15.)
Puffin ExpressJourney from Reykjavik harbor to nearby island to view colorful puffins and other bird life up close from the boat. (Available May 1 – Aug 20.
Reykjavík SightseeingThe tour travels the greater Reykjavík area by minibus, including surrounding municipalities which provides an excellent opportunity to discover various things to see or to do in Reykjavík during your stay in Iceland.

Day 3Iceland's Landscapes | Meals: B

Begin your first full day in Iceland with a guided tour of Iceland’s unique landscapes. Overnight in Reykjavík

Excursion options today:

South CoastEnjoy stops at Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls and Sólheimajökull Glacier. You’ll also see Iceland’s famous black sand beaches and the village of Vík.
Golden CircleTravel Iceland’s most well-known route, seeing Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs and Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park.
Snæfellsnes PeninsulaExperience the many wonders and idyllic villages of West Iceland. Visit black sand beaches and basalt columns, spot birds and seals, and see Mt. Kirkjufell, waterfalls and small fishing villages.
Volcanic Wonders of ReykjanesCheck out the many geological sights of the Reykjanes Peninsula: mud pools in a volcanic landscape, the Bridge Between Two Continents, and enjoy a hike up the youngest volcano in Iceland (from 2021!) and its surrounding lava fields.

Day 4Glacier or Volcano Exploration | Meals: B

Today’s tour will get you up close and personal with Iceland while also getting your blood pumping! Overnight in Reykjavík

Excursion options today:

Glacier WalkTransfer from Reykjavik to South Iceland for an easy guided walk on Solheimajokull glacier. Explore the wonderland of ice formations, ridges and crevasses. Equipment is provided. This tour will also visit two waterfalls in the south.
Into the GlacierExplore one of Iceland’s amazing glaciers, Langjökull, from the inside! A monster truck will take you past lava fields, hot springs and waterfalls to the entrance of an ice tunnel, where you will learn the meaning of the name “ICE-land.”
South Coast & Jökulsárlón Glacier LagoonHead along the south coast to eastern Iceland, making several stops along the way to see the sights. Then visit the glacier lagoon with its icebergs as well as the Diamond Beach. Take the optional boat ride (offered May-Oct) to get you even closer to the icebergs, at a supplemental cost. You will also get a view of Iceland’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull.
Inside the VolcanoThis unique volcano tour literally takes you inside a dormant volcano, through the top crater and to the bottom of its magma chamber where molten magma flowed during an eruption. (Tour offered May – October).

Day 5Explore Reykjavík On Your Own, or Add another Tour | Meals: B

Spend the day at leisure in Reykjavík or join one of the listed day tours for an additional cost. Overnight in Reykjavík

Day 6One More Day | Meals: B

Your last day in Iceland will be spent either through an up-close experience with the unique nature or learning more about the country through their culinary arts. Overnight in Reykjavík

Snorkeling at SilfraGuided snorkeling excursion in the crystal clear glacier waters of the Silfra Fissure, located in between two tectonic plates in Thingvellir National Park. A magical sub-aquatic adventure!
Horseback Riding TourThis tour is for riders of all abilities and riding gear is provided in all sizes to protect against wind and weather. After your ride, enjoy coffee and a home-baked treat.
Lava Caving Visit the lava tunnel Raufarholshellir, formed after a volcanic eruption 5000 years ago. Vivid colors, fascinating rock sculptures and more will inspire awe and wonder.
Cooking SchoolA professional chef will instruct you in preparing a three-course meal featuring traditional Icelandic dishes. After all of your hard work, sit down and enjoy your lunch along with a glass of wine.

Day 7Blue Lagoon and Depart Iceland | Meals: B

Morning transfer to the Blue Lagoon. Once there, store your luggage for a small fee (paid onsite) and then head into the lagoon to enjoy the morning relaxing in the geothermal pool. The mineral rich water is a milky shade of blue, while the soothing and healing effects on the skin have been experienced by visitors for over 30 years. Your entrance includes the self-applied silica mud mask to soften and clean the skin, towel usage, and your first drink in the lagoon free. You will leave the lagoon feeling clean, relaxed, and satisfied. Transfer to the airport for your flight home – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!
