We will experience the famous Trollstigen Road, then continue to the west to begin our coastal adventure! Our drive today takes us along the breathtaking Atlantic Road, one of Norway’s National Tourist Routes. Photo stops will be made along the way. Arriving on the historic island of Håholmen this afternoon, we will visit Saga Siglar Hall, the museum documenting the viking sailings of adventurer and former owner of our accommodations, Ragnar Torseth. Later this afternoon we set sail on a Viking ship replica. Dinner and overnight at Håholmen Havstuer

Construction on the Atlantic Road began in 1983 to facilitate better transportation and exporting options for the local fishing industry. The road consists of several bridges connecting islands and the road along the ocean, opened in 1989, after 6 years of challenging conditions and 12 hurricanes. It was chosen as the Norwegian construction of the century in 2005. It has increased tourism to the area and has been described as the world’s most beautiful drive.

Håholmen has served as a meeting place, harbor, home, and workplace for fishermen, sailors, shopkeepers, and travelers for hundreds of years. Håholmen has been a stockfish fishing community since the beginning of the 1700s. Fishing operations continued up until 1960 and the Bergseth family lived there permanently until 1978. Håholmen now offers comfortable accommodations in a variety of buildings, and includes a restaurant, pub, and museum, with opportunities for fishing and boat trips.
