2025/2026 Departures: Daily, November – March

This tour takes you to Norway’s Lapland, north of the Arctic Circle. Tromsø is often called the Arctic Capital because it is one of the largest, northernmost cities in the world. There are many winter activities to be experienced with Tromsø as a base. In this package you have the opportunity to enjoy dog sledding, Aurora dinner cruise, reindeer sledding, and of course, Northern Lights hunting. There is room to add excursions like snowshoeing, wildlife cruise, snowmobiling, and more – simply inquire! With time in Oslo as well, this is the perfect package for an introduction to Norway in the winter.

Itinerary
This is a sample semi-independent itinerary. Travel will be independent with guided tours and activities along the way. Our Destination Specialists will work with you to create an itinerary to meet your preferences.

Day 1Arrive in Tromsø | Meals: B

Travel by air from Oslo Airport in Norway, up north to Tromsø. Upon arrival, board the airport bus for transfer into the city center. As the Capital of the Arctic, Tromsø has a lot to offer visitors, especially in the winter. From November to January it is the Polar Night, when the sun doesn’t get above the horizon. This makes Tromsø ideal for Northern Lights Hunting. The city itself has great places to visit as well, including the uniquely designed Arctic Cathedral, the Polaria Aquarium and Arctic Experience, and the Tromsø Cable Car. This evening, enjoy a Northern Lights chase tour – your guide will provide you with both science and folklore on the Aurora. Overnight in Tromsø

Day 2Reindeer Sledding & Sami Culture | Meals: B L

Today is a half day tour of reindeer sledding and learning more about the Sámi culture. The Sámi are the native people of northern Norway, Sweden, and Finland and they have a unique culture and history that is closely tied to reindeer. On this tour you have the opportunity to take a reindeer drawn sleigh ride, visit with the herd, enjoy a traditional Sámi dish for lunch, and learn about the lives of the Sámi. Overnight in Tromsø

Day 3Husky Sled Ride | Meals: B L

Dog sledding excursion today. You will be outfitted in warm overalls and boots, then sit back in the sled while the experienced musher drives you through the gorgeous winter landscape. Afterward there is a tour of the dog yard, then enjoy warm drinks and lunch in the Gamme hut (Sami tent). Return to Tromsø after an exhilarating outing. Overnight in Tromsø

Day 4Tromsø and Aurora Cruise | Meals: B D

Today is open for you to relax or shop in Tromsø – sometimes referred to as the “Paris of the North” – or join an optional excursion! For your last night, partake in a Northern Lights dinner cruise. You will sail away from the light pollution of the city and search for the Northern Lights in comfort while enjoying a delicious dinner. On the catamaran, there are outside and inside viewing areas, with the inside being heated. Return to Tromsø after hopefully having spotted the Aurora Borealis! Overnight in Tromsø

Day 5Fly to Oslo | Meals: B

Bid farewell to Tromsø today. Transfer via airport coach to the Tromsø airport for your flight to Oslo. Transfer by airport train into city center. Remainder of day at leisure to explore Norway’s capital on your own. Oslo is a nature centric city, with wooded areas and natural experiences never far away. Overnight in Oslo
