12 days

Departures: Daily

This package is a stunning combination of some of Kenya’s most sought-after private game reserves with unique, off-the-beaten path areas that see few crowds. The camps and lodges are small and romantic, the landscapes rich in culture, and the wilderness brought alive by knowledgeable guides. The pace is unrushed to allow you to savor the different settings and experience all of the facilities of your lodging as well as the activities offered by each. Each individual lodge hosts you locally, some by families historic to Kenya’s bygone era. Activities available include day and night game drives, visits to the local villages, horse and camel riding, picnics and bush dinners, sunset drinks, mountain hikes, sleeping under the stars, and much more. Maximize your safari time by flying between areas.

Days 3-5Game Drives in Lewa Conservancy | Meals: B L D

Day three brings a morning transfer/game drive to Wilson Airport to catch the scheduled flight to Lewa, where you will be met at the airstrip and driven to the lodge. Days 6-8Exploring the Matthews Range | Meals: B L D

The lodge will take you to the airstrip to meet your private charter to Sarara. Once you have arrived, the hosts will explain to you what is on offer for the next couple of days. Dubbed a “biological bonanza” by the BBC, the Matthews Mountain Range is a stronghold for a wide range of species such as the melanistic leopard (also known as the black panther), elephant, Colobus monkey, greater kudu, waterbuck, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, African wild dog, reticulated giraffe, and giant forest hogs. Natural rock pools, crystal clear mountain streams, prehistoric cycad palms and wild orchids are just some of the unique forest experiences in the Matthews Mountain Range. Overnight at Sarara Camp

Days 9-11Safari in the Masai Mara | Meals: B L D

A private charter will take you to Lewa so you can catch your scheduled flight to the Masai Mara. A Mara Plains camp driver will meet you at the airstrip and transfer/game drive you back to the camp. Again, your hosts will talk you through what is available for you these next few days. The Masai Mara, together with Tanzania’s Serengeti, form Africa’s most famous wildlife park. Large prides of lions, elephants and giraffes in grasslands, gazelles and eland can be seen, to mention but a few. Aside from traditional vehicle safaris, hot-air ballooning over the Mara plains has become almost essential, and you can even do a horseback safari (own expense). Overnight at Mara Plains Camp
