Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Bergen, Norway

Upon arrival, transfer via airport coach into city center. The remainder of day is at leisure to relax and discover Norway’s “Gateway to the Fjords”. Overnight in Bergen

Day 3Bergen City Tour | Meals: B

Meet your group and local guide after breakfast for a walking tour of Bergen, including places such as the Hanseatic Wharf, Bryggen, Håkonshall, and the world-famous Fish Market. Explore Bergen as you would like this afternoon, perhaps do some shopping, or visit some of the many museums in the city. You may also wish to take the optional Afternoon Food Tour plus ride the Fløibanen Funicular up to the top of Mount Fløyen for stunning views. Overnight in Bergen

Day 4Cruise from Bergen to Balestrand | Meals: B D

This morning, depart from the Bergen pier on a 4-hour boat journey – after skirting the coast, enter the magnificent Sognefjord, sailing to the cozy town of Balestrand. The afternoon will be at your leisure to explore the area. There are some walking/hiking opportunities nearby, or stroll in the picturesque town to check out the cider house and the English dragon-style church. Dinner and Overnight in Balestrand

Day 5Balestrand / optional tour | Meals: B D

Day at leisure to enjoy beautiful Balestrand. Optional half day excursion: cruise along a narrower fjord branch to Fjærland. Portions of Jostedal, the largest glacier on mainland Europe, becomes visible as you cruise. You will take a bus to visit the interactive Norwegian Glacier Museum, then the coach will drive you between two glaciers. Afterwards, you will return to Balestrand by boat. Dinner and Overnight in Balestrand

Day 6To the East, via Flåm & Myrdal | Meals: B

Today’s travel east begins with a cruise along the Aurlandsfjord to the fjord village of Flåm, where you can enjoy lunch and browsing on your own. In the afternoon you’ll board the famous Flåmsbana railway for an hour-long ascent from the fjord valley that will take you along some of the more scenic sights in Norway. After arriving in the small mountain station of Myrdal, a picturesque journey on the high-speed Bergen Railway will take you to Norway’s capital, Oslo, for evening arrival. Overnight in Oslo

Day 7Oslo | Meals: B

Late morning, your group will enjoy a three-hour tour of Oslo’s highlights, including: Frogner Park with Vigeland’s Sculpture Garden, the Royal Palace, City Hall, Akershus Fortress, and more. The remainder of day is open for you to explore Oslo at your leisure. Overnight in Oslo

Day 8Depart Oslo, Norway | Meals: B

In conjunction with your flight, transfer by express airport train to Gardermoen airport for your return to the US – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!

STOCKHOLM EXTENSION:

Day 8Oslo to Stockholm, Sweden | Meals: B

Departure from Oslo central station to Stockholm, located on the east coast of Sweden, by high-speed train. After arrival and check-in at hotel close to central station, remainder of the day at leisure to enjoy Sweden’s capital, a city built on 14 islands, and surrounded by an archipelago of thousands of islands. Overnight in Stockholm

Day 9Stockholm | Meals: B

Make your way to the harbor for a sightseeing excursion by boat through the canal of Djurgården that runs through The Royal National City Park – the capital’s green oasis. Remainder of day to explore on your own. The city’s grand public buildings, palaces, rich cultural history and museums reveal its 700 year-old history beautifully. Be sure to check out Gamla Stan (Old Town), where you will be charmed by cobblestone streets, narrow but beautifully preserved buildings, and The Royal Palace. Also recommended are several sights on Djurgården: popular Skansen open-air museum & zoo, the stunning Vasa Museum, the Nordic Museum, and the ABBA Museum. Overnight in Stockholm

Day 10Depart Stockholm | Meals: B

In conjunction with your flight, transfer by airport express train to Arlanda airport for your return to the US – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!
