Denmark is home to the great fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen, and the popular LEGO bricks. While traveling over seas and through gorgeous scenery, you will have the opportunity to experience the magic of Andersen’s Denmark, some memorable castles, as well as the first Legoland.

Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Copenhagen, Denmark

Make your way independently from the Copenhagen Airport to your hotel. This afternoon enjoy a sightseeing tour by boat to see the highlights of Denmark’s capital. Departing from the picturesque Nyhavn, this guided boat tour with a live guide will take you through Copenhagen’s canals for a brief introduction to all that the city has to offer. You will see old and new houses, churches, palaces, and of course, the Little Mermaid statue that honors Hans Christian Andersen’s famous story! Afterward, enjoy the world famous Tivoli Gardens, a beautiful amusement park in the heart of the city. Overnight in Copenhagen

Day 3Castles and Countryside | Meals: B

Pick up your car and drive from Copenhagen to the northern part of Sealand Island to check out a couple of Denmark’s most famous castles. The stunning Frederiksborg Castle and its Castle Gardens are situated next to a lovely lake in the town of Hillerød. Then you may wish to travel along the ‘Riviera Road’ along the east coast, enjoying a beautiful view of the Øresund Strait up to Helsingør and Kronborg castle, named Elsinore in Shakespeare’s famous drama Hamlet. You can spot Sweden across the water. Overnight in castle hotel in Sauntehus

Day 4Danish Fairytales | Meals: B

Today, head southwest from North Sealand, then over the Great Belt Bridge onto Funen Island. Perhaps detour down to visit Egeskov Castle and grounds before heading to Odense to spend the rest of the day. Odense is Funen’s main city and also the birthplace of famous fairy tale author Hans Christian Andersen. In cozy Odense, a visit to the Hans Christian Andersen Museum and his childhood home are recommended. Overnight in Odense

Day 5Journey to Jutland & home of LEGO | Meals: B

At your leisure, drive from Odense onto the main peninsula Jutland, then up to the town of Billund, which is home to LEGO Headquarters, and the original Legoland Park. A more recent addition in Billund is LEGO House, another way to explore the world of LEGO. Overnight in Billund

Day 6Billund area & LEGOs | Meals: B

Spend the day at Legoland, exploring the park. Legoland is comprised of many different areas, ranging from Pirate Land to Miniland, to the Imagination Zone. There are over 50 rides that the whole family can enjoy, including waterpark rides. You may also wish to explore the area surrounding Billund on Denmark’s main peninsula. Overnight in Billund

Day 7Exploring the Countryside | Meals: B

Make the drive back to Copenhagen. The day is yours to explore sights along the way or in Copenhagen. Recommended stop in Roskilde, to visit the Viking Ship Museum there, along with the stellar Cathedral, Return your rental car late afternoon in Copenhagen. Overnight in Copenhagen

Day 8Depart Copenhagen, Denmark | Meals: B

Independently transfer to the airport for your return flights to the US – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!
