Biography

Jill Byrlev has been involved in travel for the past 20+ years. In 2002, Jill started Tuscany By Design, a travel company focusing on custom trips to Tuscany. Jill has a long relationship with travel in Scandinavia. Her husband is a Dane, and her eldest son has called Copenhagen home for the last 6 years! Jill’s travels in Scandinavia have involved trips to Copenhagen, Jutland in northern Denmark, Bornholm, Sweden and chasing the Northern lights in Tromso, Norway, and exploring the Norwegian Fjords.

What aspect of travel do you enjoy the most?

I love the research and planning of a new trip!

What is one thing you would never travel without?

I always bring my cell phone, adaptor, portable speaker, and a cashmere wrap. These essentials are used over and over again on every trip I take!

What has been your most life-changing travel experience?

Experiencing the Polar Night in Tromso, Norway. The few hours of beautiful blue light were magical!

What has traveling taught you about yourself?

That travel is a gift! There are endless places just waiting to be explored and the memories created are like gifts that never stop giving!

What is your favorite destination, and why?

While Tuscany and the Amalfi coast will always hold a special place in my heart my new travel obsession is Norway!
