We’re pleased to present our sixth Christmas-themed Signature Journey! This year we’re taking you to the medieval city of Trondheim, with a little jaunt out to the former mining city of Røros, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Join a Borton Overseas Scandinavia Specialist on this festive pre-holiday trip to experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of Trondheim at Christmas. Visit Nidaros Cathedral, enjoy a traditional Christmas Julebord dinner, and shop for handicrafts, traditional food, baked goods, and more at two different Christmas markets!

Itinerary
This is a Borton Overseas Signature Journey – a premier, small-group tour hosted by our Destination Specialists.

Wed, Dec. 1 -Departure from US

A Borton Overseas Scandinavia Specialist will accompany the group on its departure from Minneapolis/St. Paul international airport on overnight Delta flight to Amsterdam. Borton Overseas can assist with arrangements for departures from other US locations – please inquire!

Thur, Dec. 2 -Arrive Trondheim, Norway | Meals: D

Midday arrival into Amsterdam airport. Change to connecting Delta/KLM flight onward to Norway. Upon arrival into Trondheim at 4:40pm, the group will transfer by coach from the airport into city center for check-in at the Trondheim hotel.
Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner as a group and toast to the first day of our adventure. Overnight at Thon Hotel Nidaros

Fri, Dec. 3 -Trondheim Christmas Market | Meals: B

After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a three-hour walking tour of the city with a local guide. After the tour of Trondheim, the group will be taken to the square where the Christmas Market has just opened! The remainder of the day will be at leisure.
Overnight at Thon Hotel Nidaros

Sat, Dec. 4 -Røros Christmas Markets | Meals: B

After breakfast at the hotel we will depart Trondheim by train to the old mining town of Røros. The train ride is 2.5 hours.
Upon arrival in Røros we’ll have a one-hour walking tour of the town, founded in 1644 with the discovery of copper in the area.
After our walking tour we’ll have a couple hours to explore the markets and purchase lunch on our own before we take the train back to Trondheim. Overnight at Thon Hotel Nidaros

Sun, Dec. 5 - Trondheim and Julebord Dinner | Meals: B D

Breakfast at the hotel. Day a leisure in Trondheim to do any last shopping or exploring. Tonight we’ll enjoy a traditional “Julebord” meal as our farewell dinner. The Norwegian Julebord is a Christmas feast that includes pork ribs, lamb meat, and sausages with various sides. It is sure to be a delicious final course of memories of your time in Norway! Mon, Dec. 6 - Depart Norway to US | Meals: B

Early morning transfer from hotel to airport for flight with KLM/Delta at 6:15am to Amsterdam, where we will connect to Delta transatlantic flight departing late morning, arriving back into the Twin Cities MN at 12:25pm – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!
