Itinerary
This is an escorted tour. Our Destination Specialists will work with you to customize any pre- or post-departure arrangements to your travel preferences.

Day 1Arrive Maun, Botswana and fly to Moremi Game Reserve | Meals: D

After your arrival at Maun International Airport you will board your 30 min charter flight to the Moremi Game Reserve. NOTE: Dec-Mar the flight is replaced with a road transfer departing Maun at 8am. Borton Overseas can assist with booking a pre-night stay in Maun, if necessary.

Upon landing, you will be met by your safari guide and board your 4WD safari vehicle. The first three nights are spent in the Xakanaxa region of the Moremi Game Reserve where you explore the surrounding wilderness on morning and afternoon game drive excursions. Overnight in Moremi Game Reserve

Days 2-3Exploring Moremi Game Reserve | Meals: B L D

Morning and afternoon game drives will allow you to explore the diverse ecosystem of the Moremi Game Reserve that supports an incredibly wide spectrum of wildlife, ranging from large herds of buffalo, wildebeest and zebra, to the rare sitatunga and lechwe antelope, lion, cheetah and packs of wild dog in the open grasslands. The birdlife is prolific and includes most of the 550 bird species recorded on Botswana’s national bird list. Overnight in Moremi Game Reserve

Day 4Journey to the Khwai Community Area | Meals: B L D

Enjoy a slow drive northeast towards the Khwai Community Area, on alert for the many species of wildlife common to the area. We pass the active Dombo Hippo Pools in the morning, stopping to enjoy the scenery and the antics of the resident hippo. The western mopane veld is home to mostly breeding herds of elephant, while the eastern reaches of Khwai are home to some impressive old bulls. Overnight in the Khwai Community Area

Days 5-6Khwai Exploration Days | Meals: B L D

The Khwai River forms a boundary between the reserve and the community area. You will spend the following two nights at an exclusive campsite, exploring the Khwai floodplains on game drives both during the day and at night. Exploring after dark with spotlights offers an opportunity to spot some of the nocturnal animals that are rarely encountered during the day. You will also have the opportunity for guided walks and experiencing a mokoro (canoe), for up-close and personal encounters with Botswana’s flora and fauna. Overnight in the Khwai Community Area

Day 7Head to Savuti Chobe National Park | Meals: B L D

Today you will head further north enroute to Chobe National Park, where you spend the following three nights camping in an exclusive wilderness campsite in the Savuti region, exploring the desert-like landscape on game drives and some of the best cheetah habitat on our safari. Overnight in Chobe National Park

Days 8-9On Safari in Savuti Chobe National Park | Meals: B L D

Explore the unusual landscape of Savuti during game drives. Unlike the vast majority of the country, Savuti is not a totally flat landscape. Large outcrops of volcanic rock reach up out of the Kalahari sands, towering over the endless savannah. These hills provide habitat for a completely different array of small wildlife, birds and plants. The Savuti Marsh has been the stage for many of the dramatic wildlife documentaries in Africa. The wide open country, good ungulate populations and particularly strong prides of lion and hyena clans make for dramatic wildlife interaction and excellent viewing opportunities. Overnight in Chobe National Park

Day 10Travel to the Chobe River and Depart Kasane, Botswana | Meals: B L

On our final day on safari you will leave Savuti early to travel along the Chobe River, viewing the aquatic wildlife along the way, and arriving in Kasane where you will stop for a picnic lunch before taking an afternoon boat cruise to end our safari.

The safari ends in Kasane. Borton will assist you with onward options such as a flight back to Johannesburg or road transfer to the Victoria Falls, an obvious consideration and just 2hr drive away.
