This all-encompassing tour will show you the entirety of Scandinavia. From the modern cities, to the Viking villages scattered along the fjords, and even the verdant landscape in between, you will experience all the splendor and grace that Northern Europe has. There is also the option to extend this tour to include Finland’s capital, Helsinki, and the Russian cultural center of St. Petersburg with a visit to Moscow, Russia’s grand capital.

Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Copenhagen, Denmark

Arrive at the Copenhagen Kastrup International Airport and take the transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy Denmark’s capital city. Perhaps enjoy a meal of smørrebrød, the famous Scandinavian open-faced sandwich, or just stroll along the picturesque Nyhavn harbor. This evening you will have a welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travelers. Overnight in Copenhagen

Day 3City of Copenhagen and Sailing to Norway | Meals: B D

This morning, you will depart with your local guide for a three-hour city sightseeing tour by coach. You will witness all the best highlights of the city, such as City Hall Square and the famous pedestrian street Strøget, Tivoli Gardens, the Old Stock Exchange, Amalienborg Palace, and more. Included as well is a stop at the famous Little Mermaid statue. Your tour will end back at the hotel. This afternoon, a coach will take you to the pier where you will board the overnight ferry. A buffet dinner will be served on board as the ferry takes you to Oslo. Overnight on board

Day 4Oslo to Eidfjord | Meals: B D

Sail into the beautiful Oslofjord this morning while enjoying breakfast on board. Disembark in Oslo and then depart the city, heading west through the town of Hønefoss into the Hallingdal Valley. Pass through the ski resort town of Geilo before entering the Hardangervidda Plateau. Before arriving at your hotel in Eidfjord there will be a stop at the gorgeous Vøringfossen waterfall. Arrive in Eidfjord, a town along the shores of the Hardangerfjord, for dinner at your hotel and enjoy your first night in the famous Norwegian fjords. Overnight in Eidfjord

Day 5Bridge and Bergen | Meals: B

Cross the Hardangerfjord via the huge Hardanger Suspension Bridge this morning as you make your way west to Bergen. Once in Bergen, you will meet a local guide and enjoy a two-hour walking tour of the city, seeing areas like the famous Bryggen Wharf, the fish market, and Håkons Hall. The rest of the evening is at leisure to perhaps visit the Maritime Museum for a brief introduction to Bergen’s history as a coastal city or take an optional excursion on the funicular up Mount Fløyen for an amazing view of the city. Overnight in Bergen

Day 6Bergen, Voss, and the Nærøy Valley | Meals: B D

Continue to enjoy beautiful Bergen this morning at your leisure. This afternoon you will depart Bergen for the small town of Voss, known for excellent skiing in nearby mountains, as well as the newly re-opened gondola to the top of Mount Hanguren in central Voss. After a break there you will drive to your final destination for the night, the historic Stalheim Hotel, nestled in the Nærøy Valley. There are many close hikes or easy walks to enjoy, in addition to an onsite Folk Museum. Overnight in Stalheim

Day 7Ferry and Flåm | Meals: B D

In the morning, your coach will take you to the shores of the Nærøyfjord, a branch of the massive Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway. Board a ferry for the two-hour cruise along the Nærøyfjord, passing quaint villages, farmland, and gorgeous scenery along the way. You will arrive in Flåm where you can either enjoy time independently hiking or walking around the small town or take the optional two-hour journey on the famous Flåmsbana train through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Another option is to visit the Stegastein Viewpoint for a panoramic view of the fjord. Departing from Flåm this afternoon, a stop will be made at Borgund Stavkirke (entrance not included) before arriving in Fagernes this evening. Overnight in Fagernes

Day 8Explore Oslo, Norway | Meals: B

Depart Fagernes this morning as you head south back to Oslo. Once in the capital you will have a tour of the city. Sights include the glacial Opera House and Vigeland Sculpture Garden, one of Scandinavia’s greatest treasures. You will also pass the Royal Palace and the chic Karl Johan Street, a popular place for shopping and dining out. Enjoy the rest of the day on your own, perhaps with a visit to the Munch Museum or a walk in Frogner Park. Overnight in Oslo

Day 9Travel to Stockholm, Sweden | Meals: B

Say goodbye to Norway this morning as you head east, traveling through Sweden’s lush countryside filled with forest and lakes. Arrive in Stockholm this afternoon. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy a Swedish smörgåsbord at one of Stockholm’s world-famous restaurants, a drink at the Icebar, or a walk around the Old Town, Gamla Stan. Overnight in Stockholm

Day 10City Sights of Stockholm | Meals: B

Tour Stockholm this morning with a local guide. You will first have a coach tour to see more of the 14 islands Stockholm is situated on. You will be dropped off in the town of Gamla Stan for a stroll through the cobblestone alleyways and quaint shops that are found there. Entrance to the City Hall, where the Nobel Banquet is held every year, is included as well. The rest of the day is at leisure to further explore some of the sights seen on your tour or join an optional visit to the famous Vasa Museum and see the salvaged ship that sank on its maiden voyage in 1628. Overnight in Stockholm

Day 11Depart Stockholm, Sweden | Meals: B

Transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight home – or extend your stay with an independent package in Scandinavia!

Helsinki Extension

Day 11Overnight Ferry to Helsinki | Meals: B D

The morning is at your leisure to continue your exploration of Sweden’s capital. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the harbor to board a comfortable overnight ferry bound for Helsinki. Sail out of the Stockholm archipelago into the open waters of the Baltic Sea while enjoying a delicious buffet dinner and then sleeping peacefully in an outside cabin. Overnight on board

Day 12Tour of Helsinki | Meals: B

Partake in breakfast on board before arrival to Helsinki. You will be met at the port by a local guide who will take you around Finland’s capital city for a tour of the city’s main attractions, and also share information on modern life as a Finn. In addition to seeing sights like Finlandia Hall, the Orthodox Church Uspenski, and the Sibelius Monument, entrance to the famous “Rock Church” Temppeliauko is also included. After the tour, you have the day at leisure and it is recommended to independently take the ferry over to the sea fortress of Suomenlinna for a stroll around the island and learn about Helsinki’s military history. Overnight in Helsinki

Day 13Depart Helsinki, Finland | Meals: B

St. Petersburg & Moscow Extension

Day 13Train to St. Petersburg

After breakfast, you will have the morning at leisure to enjoy some of Helsinki’s city center before you are transferred to Helsinki’s International Rail Station where you will board the Allegro Train bound for St. Petersburg. Arriving at St. Petersburg’s Finlyandsky station this evening, you will be welcomed to Russia by a victorious statue of the infamous leader Vladimir Lenin. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy your first evening in St. Petersburg at leisure. Overnight in St. Petersburg

Day 14Guided Tour of St. Petersburg | Meals B

This morning you will begin your thorough introduction to St. Petersburg with a city tour led by a local guide. Driving around the city you will see some of the most famous landmarks in Russia like the Cathedral of Spilled Blood, Senate Square, and the Spit of Basil’s Island. After the official tour concludes you have the day at leisure to explore independently, or join an optional excursion a half-hour outside of the city to Pushkin where you will visit Peterhof Palace, often referred to as “Russian Versailles.” Overnight in St. Petersburg

Day 15Exploring Art in St. Petersburg | Meals: B L

Continuing your Russian exploration this morning you will meet your guide again and head over to the famous State Hermitage Museum. The Hermitage occupies six splendid buildings along the River Neva, the most famous of which is the Winter Palace, the home of many former Russian Tsars. After your tour through the Hermitage you can spend the rest of the day independently enjoying St. Petersburg, based on recommendations from your guide. Overnight in St. Petersburg

Day 16Sapsan Train to Russia’s Capital City | Meals: B

This morning you will transfer to the railway station and take the famous Sapsan Train to Moscow. This world class train takes you through some of Russia’s most idyllic and iconic landscapes, all along the Volga River. Upon arrival at the Moscow train station, you will transfer to your hotel. The evening is at leisure to enjoy a meal in Russia’s capital city. Overnight in Moscow

Day 17Full Day Private Tour of Moscow | Meals: B

Enjoy a full city tour of Moscow this morning, seeing the famous buildings, statues, and churches built from the 15th century through the Soviet era. Highlights of this tour include the Red Square, Vorobievy Hills for a great view of the city, and even a tour of one of the city’s famous metro stations. After such a full morning of sightseeing you will be prepared to spend the rest of the day independently getting a closer look at some of the places you saw on your tour. This evening you have the option to attend the National Russian Dance Show “Kostroma.” Overnight in Moscow

Day 18The Kremlin | Meals: B

Today you have the opportunity to enter the notorious Moscow Kremlin, a walled fortress in the heart of the city that was most famously the headquarters of the communist party during the days of the Soviet Union. Your tour today will take you to the Kremlin Armoury Museum, known for its collection of Faberge eggs. The tour ends at the hotel with the rest of day at leisure. You may choose to spend that time on an optional cruise on the Moscow river. Overnight in Moscow

Day 19Depart Moscow, Russia | Meals: B

Transfer to Moscow Airport for your early morning return flight to the US – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!
