Saturday, December 28Copenhagen Arrival | Meals: D

Welcome to Denmark! Upon arrival in Copenhagen, we will claim our luggage, then transfer to our hotel via a private coach. A Smørrebrød class is planned for later this afternoon. Smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) are an important part of Danish food culture. Come and explore this old tradition of eating rye/pumpernickel bread with a range of toppings – and savor your creations! Overnight at Imperial Hotel, Copenhagen

Sunday, December 29Copenhagen | Meals: B

Explore the Danish capital by motorcoach, taking in the highlights of Copenhagen. You will admire the Little Mermaid statue – Copenhagen’s most iconic landmark, the colorful canal-area of Nyhavn and its many cafés and restaurants, splendid Amalienborg Palace – the Danish Royal Family’s residence, historic buildings, and Rosenborg Castle. Entrance and a guided tour are included at Rosenborg. Explore the castle which for 400 years has taken care of Danish kings and queens’ most precious treasures, originally built in 1606-1607 as a summer house by King Christian IV.

Monday, December 30Roskilde | Meals: B

Today we will visit Roskilde, a town in Denmark located west of Copenhagen, at the end of the Roskilde Fjord. Roskilde is also the former capital of Denmark. We will visit the Viking Ship Museum that is located in the harbor. Among the vessels in the collection is the largest Viking ship in the world. Then we visit the stunning Roskilde Cathedral, which has been declared a World Heritage Site. It was built in the Middle Ages between the 12th and 13th century, and most of the kings and queens of Denmark are buried here. A lunch stop will be made enroute. Evening is on own in Copenhagen. Tuesday, December 31 New Year's Eve Festivities | Meals: B D

Today we will visit Tivoli Gardens in the heart of Copenhagen, still decked out for the holidays. You have time to independently wander, shop, and explore this lovely 180-year-old amusement park. In the evening, we will gather for a a multi-course meal at one of Tivoli’s restaurants. Later, we will experience the vibrant and festive atmosphere of Copenhagen’s New Year’s Eve celebration in the City Hall Square! We will join the locals and tourists alike as we come together to welcome the new year with music, fireworks, and joyful celebrations. Everyone has their eyes set on the City Hall Tower Clock, and once the clock hands turn to midnight, fireworks light up the sky. Overnight at Imperial Hotel, Copenhagen

Wednesday, January 1Copenhagen Free Day | Meals: B

Hygge Day! 2025 begins with a free day in Copenhagen, where you can relax at the hotel after the festive New Year’s Eve celebration last night and/or enjoy a walk about in the city or venture over to Freetown Christiania. While many of the sites in Copenhagen are closed due to the holiday, Tivoli Gardens, the Copenhagen Zoo and the National Museum are open or take a classic canal tour. Thursday, January 2North Zealand | Meals: B D

Our last day in Denmark will have us experiencing a tour to the Castles of North Zealand with the first stop at the town of Hillerød, where the stunning Frederiksborg Castle is located. We will have a private tour of the castle, starting at the Neptune Fountain and visit the rooms of the King’s Wing, the Church, and the impressive Knight’s Hall, which boasts an intricate carved wooden ceiling. Today, the castle has been transformed into a national historical museum and is best known for its outstanding collection of portraits – the largest of its kind in Denmark. A photo stop is also made at Fredensborg Castle, and we will head up to Helsingør for a visit to Kronborg, also known as Hamlet’s Castle. There will be a stop for lunch between castle visits. We will gather tonight for a farewell dinner in Copenhagen. Overnight at Imperial Hotel, Copenhagen

Friday, January 3Copenhagen Departure | Meals: B

After breakfast and check out, we will load the motorcoach and transfer to Copenhagen Airport. Your Borton Overseas host will assist with getting everyone checked in for our flight back to Minnesota.
