Witness the many wonders of Ilulissat yourself on a winter tour to this remote town. Enjoy a guided walking tour of Ilulissat, snowshoeing through the frozen night to look for the Northern Lights, and experiencing the arctic winter with professional guides who can offer insight into modern and historic life above the Arctic Circle.

Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Copenhagen, Denmark

Arrive in Copenhagen and transfer independently to your nearby airport hotel. There is easy access by train from the airport to the city center. As a visitor, one of the best ways to explore Copenhagen is by bicycle or the convenient public transit. You can visit classic historic sites like the Little Mermaid Statue and Amalienborg Palace, or newer spots like the many renowned and Michelin starred restaurants Copenhagen hosts. Day 3 Fly to Ilulissat | Meals: B D

Transfer independently to the Copenhagen Airport for your flight to Greenland. There is a short layover in Kangerlussuaq before your arrival in Ilulissat, located in West Greenland. You will be transferred to your hotel for check-in. An information meeting and then a guided walk of Ilulissat will follow. Ilulissat is the Greenlandic Inuit word for iceberg, and it is easy for visitors to Ilulissat to see why. On your walk around town you will see the waters lining the town filled with icebergs coming from the nearby Ilulissat Icefjord. In addition to the floating giants you will also see the old town with buildings from its past trading with the Danes, the fishing harbor, Old Zion Church, and more. A two-course dinner is included this evening. Overnight in Ilulissat

Day 4Dogsledding Adventure | Meals: B

Today you will travel back in time into the world of the old polar explorer with a dog sledge excursion, an exhilarating way to traverse the snowy terrain. A polar suit is included. You will have about two hours on the sled to enjoy the ride. The rest of the day is at leisure to enjoy Ilulissat independently or join an optional excursion. Overnight in Ilulissat

Day 5Hunt for Northern Lights | Meals: B

If you’d like, sleep in this morning in preparation for tonight’s excursion. The day is open for you to relax or join an optional excursion. This evening you will meet up with your guide for a two-hour snowshoe hike to search for the Northern Lights. There are many local legends about the lights and your guide will be sure to share those tales while you traverse the snow. Overnight in Ilulissat

Day 6Day in Ilulissat | Meals: B D

Today is at leisure to enjoy Ilulissat independently. The village has a lot to offer visitors. From shops offering locally made handicrafts to a local fish market where you can explore the day’s catch, there are plenty of interesting place to visit. You could also join an optional excursion today. A three-course farewell dinner is included tonight. Overnight in Ilulissat

Day 7Depart Greenland | Meals: B

You will be transferred back to Ilulissat’s Airport for your departure flight through Kangerlussuaq to Copenhagen. Independently transfer to your nearby airport hotel for the evening. Overnight in Copenhagen

Day 8Depart Copenhagen, Denmark | Meals: B

Breakfast at your hotel before transferring independently back to the airport for your return flight to the US – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!
