Spend the morning relaxing and exploring Tromsø. As the largest city in Norway’s portion of the Arctic Circle, Tromsø has always been an important stop for voyages north. This afternoon transfer on own the short distance to the quay for embarkation and departure at 6:00pm. Start your northbound voyage in the arctic region, cruising along the enchanting Norwegian coast for the next couple of days. You will have the chance to enjoy interesting presentations and several ports of call. If traveling in January and early February, you also have a good chance at spotting whales from the ship. Enter Norway’s northernmost county Finnmark this morning. Finnmark’s landscape is austere in its beauty, teeming with wildlife. Watch for rookeries of puffins and gannets along the cliffs and pods of orca hunting for herring. You will pass the North Cape this afternoon, the point where the Atlantic Ocean and the Arctic Ocean meet, and also the farthest north you can go on a public road in Europe. After calling at Honningsvåg, the capital of the North Cape, the ship heads east toward the pretty fishing villages of Kjøllefjord, Mehamn, and Berlevåg. Optional shore excursions are available. Today is free to explore Norway’s Capital City. Oslo is a nature centric city, with wooded areas and natural experiences never far away. A trip to Holmenkollen Ski Jump to visit the ski museum and experience amazing views is an option. From city center, there are many fantastic museums to check out, including the new Munch Museum.
