Arrive Copenhagen airport, then pick up your rental car. Cross from Denmark into Sweden, via the impressive Oresund Bridge, which consists of a five-mile bridge, a tunnel and an artificial island. The 669-foot high pylons are visible from far away – a new landmark in the Oresund Region. Visit Malmö, a city with stunning historic buildings and distinctive Swedish character. Highlights include Malmöhus Castle, Malmö’s various museums, shopping and dining. Continue on to your accommodation. Overnight in Trelleborg

Day 4Swedish Countryside | Meals: B

Depart for Lund this morning. Your short drive will take you through the idyllic Swedish countryside, past farms, lakes and towns. Spend time exploring Lund, a quaint and historic University town, also known for its Cathedral. The University of Lund dates back to 1668, and draws students from all over the world. Enjoy the Botanical Gardens or the open air museum. Continue on up to the port city of Helsingborg. An independent walk will take you through streets from medieval Helsingborg, by the oldest home in the city (from 1641), Mariakyrkan, the fortress Karnan, and past parks and fountains. Visit the bustling harbor area, which is also Sweden’s closest point to Denmark. Overnight in Helsingborg

Day 5Helsingborg, Helsingør & Hillerød | Meals: B

Today, depart Helsingborg on one of the ferries that leave three times an hour for the “sister city” of Helsingør, a short 20-minute trip across the sound to Denmark! Situated next to the water is the medieval Kronborg Castle, made famous by Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.” Visit the elegant castle, military fortifications, yard, chapel, and the Casemates – an underground network of corridors and rooms located under the castle. Traveling south, you may wish to visit the Louisiana Museum of Art in Humblebæk. Surrounded by nature and on the Oresund coast, the museum features an exceptional art collection from the 20th century in addition to special international exhibitions each year.
