This is a sample independent itinerary. Our Destination Specialists will work with you to create an itinerary to meet your preferences.

Day 1Arrive Helsinki, Finland

Upon arrival at the Helsinki Airport, transfer independently to your hotel. The rest of day is at leisure to enjoy the city on your own. Helsinki is uniquely situated on the Baltic Sea, where it has for centuries protected Finland from invaders coming from Russia in the east and Sweden in the west. Built upon this foundation, the city offers both historic sites like the sea fortress Suomenlinna, as well as modern art like the Sibelius Monument and the Kiasma Museum. The series of trams that cover the whole city make navigating simple for visitors. Overnight in Helsinki

Day 2Fly to Lapland | Meals: B D

Make your way independently back to Helsinki airport for your flight to Ivalo, then board the transfer to Kakslauttanen. Enjoy dinner, then you’ll be outfitted with a snowsuit and boots for your time at Kakslauttanen. Suit up, and meet the reindeer for an evening sleigh ride where, hopefully, the Northern Lights will make an appearance. You will stop half-way through and enjoy a warm drink around a roaring fire before heading back. Overnight at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort

Day 3 Dog Sledding | Meals: B D

This morning meet some friendly huskies at the kennels and enjoy a two-hour guided dogsledding tour. You will first be shown the basics of dog sledding, then you will set off into the stillness of the Arctic wilderness. Afterward, enjoy a warm drink and learn about the huskies from their handlers. Tonight, enjoy dinner and a walk through the original village of Kakslauttanen, or join a Northern Lights tour. Overnight at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort

Day 4Snowmobiling and Glass Igloo | Meals: B D

Your morning is at leisure to perhaps sled or enjoy a winter activity independently, or join an optional excursion. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to explore more of the Lapland wilderness by snowmobile! Your two-hour excursion includes a safety briefing, outfitting in proper gear, instruction, about 45-minutes riding through the Finnish countryside, and a coffee break with your guide. The rest of the day is free to do as you wish. Tonight you will sleep in a glass igloo, the unique Kakslauttanen accommodation that allows for sleeping under the stars or, if you’re lucky, under the Northern Lights! Overnight at Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort

Day 5Return to Helsinki | Meals: B

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Helsinki, then independent transfer to your hotel. The remainder of your day is at leisure to enjoy Helsinki. Overnight in Helsinki
