This package, with hotel stays in Ilulissat and Narsaq and a cruise along the West coast of Greenland, offers unique experiences of the arctic nature and insight into the Inuit culture. Sailing along the coast of Greenland is a splendid way to meet the locals. On board accommodations are in modern outside cabins with private facilities. As you journey from Ilulissat in the west to Narsaq in the south, there will be ample time to unwind and enjoy the beautiful and diverse nature of Greenland.

Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Reykjavík, Iceland

Transfer from the airport to the city center. Borton Overseas can arrange an optional tour to help you discover Reykjavík or the wonders of Iceland. Overnight in Reykjavík

Day 3Reykjavík - Ilulissat, Greenland | Meals: B D

You’ll have some free time this morning before your afternoon flight from Reykjavík to Ilulissat. You will be met by local guide and transferred to your accommodation. An informational meeting will be given, followed by a guided city walk, then time in afternoon for optional excursions (please see list below). A welcome dinner is included tonight. Overnight in Ilulissat

Day 4Exploring Ilulissat | Meals: B D

Day at leisure for optional excursions in Ilulissat. You may wish to meet with locals on a home visit or see the Ilulissat Icefjord. Overnight in Ilulissat

Day 5Ilulissat - At Sea | Meals: B

More optional excursions are available this morning. In the afternoon, transfer to the pier for your cruise departure. Overnight on board in outside cabin

Day 6Greenland Coastal Steamer Cruise

Sail south along the Greenlandic West Coast. A morning call at Sisimiut for approximately two hours includes a special guided city tour. The ship will make a short stop in Maniitsoq in the late evening. Overnight on board in outside cabin

Day 7Greenland's West Coast

Continue the scenic sailing southward down the coast. Make an early call at the capital city of Nuuk, where you’ll spend several hours, including guided city walk. Overnight on board in outside cabin

Day 8Cruise into South Greenland

Sail into the South Greenland Archipelago. In the afternoon, enjoy a visit to Qaqortoq. Late in the evening the ship will arrive in Narsaq. You will be met by a local guide and transferred to hotel. Overnight in Narsaq

Days 9 Narsaq | Meals: B

The next two days are spent in Narsaq. You will have a guided city tour to get to know your surroundings, and then you have time available for optional excursions. Perhaps you would like to take a leisurely hike to Viking ruins or travel by boat through the fjords to see the Twin Glaciers at the Inland Icecap. Overnight in Narsaq

Day 10Another Day in Narsaq | Meals: B D

You have one more day for optional excursions, or just to relax and enjoy the scenery. Your last night in Greenland will include a farewell dinner. Overnight in Narsaq

Day 11Narsaq, Greenland - Iceland | Meals: B

After breakfast, enjoy a “goodbye” coffee with your guide. Your transfer to Narsarsuaq to catch your Iceland bound flight will be by helicopter. At a low altitude, you will fly over the majestic Arctic landscape; an unforgettable memory of Greenland! (On certain days, if there is no helicopter service, the transfer will be by boat.) Subject to the time of your arrival in Narsarsuaq, you may be able to join a brief tour to the Qoroq Glacier or to see the original farm of Eric the Red. This evening, fly from Greenland to Iceland’s Keflavík Airport. Transfer independently to your hotel. Overnight near the airport

Day 12Depart Reykjavík, Iceland | Meals: B

Depending on your flight time, you may want to make an optional stop at the Blue Lagoon. Independently transfer to the airport for your return flight to the US – or extend your stay in Scandinavia!

  • Hiking – a three-hour trip to the Ilulissat Ice Fjord and Sermermiut , an eight-hour day hike on the Cecily Trail, an easy, three-hour hike on the Dyrnæs Peninsula, or a five to six-hour trek to the mineral area of Kvanefjeldet
