Elspeth Stewart

Scandinavia Specialist

Biography

Elspeth is originally from New Mexico. She has been fortunate enough to study abroad twice. As a high school student she lived in Finland for six weeks and later attended Uppsala University in Sweden for a semester.

To date, her favorite travel destination has been the Finnish lake lands. She is always happy to talk about her own experiences abroad and is excited to help travelers plan their own Scandinavian adventures!

What aspect of travel do you enjoy the most?

What I most enjoy about traveling (besides the destinations themselves) is that it has taught me to be more flexible and accepting of unexpected changes. I also love exploring in nature and cities independently!

What is one thing you would never travel without?

A backpack and good, sturdy shoes.

What has been your most life-changing travel experience?

The living abroad with my host family in Finland was one of the most incredible experiences of my life and has ultimately lead me to become a Scandinavia Specialist.

What has traveling taught you about yourself?

Traveling has taught me that the Girl Scout motto (‘always be prepared!) has been thoroughly ingrained into me. Travelling has also taught me how resilient I am.

What is your favorite destination, and why?

My favorite destination (so far – there’s still a lot to explore) has been Finland. I was completely in awe of the pristine forests and lakes when I was there.
