Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Copenhagen, Denmark

Independently transfer to your hotel. Experience Denmark’s capital, including the famous Little Mermaid statue, or do as the Danes do and bike around the city. This evening, don’t miss Tivoli Gardens, alive with music and lights. Overnight in Copenhagen

Day 3Viking History | Meals: B

Depart by train and travel through the countryside of Sealand island, crossing the impressive Great Belt Bridge to the island of Funen, often referred to as Denmark’s Garden, then onwards to Denmark’s main peninsula, Jutland. Continue to Ribe, Denmark’s oldest city. Your hotel is located right in the town center, across from the cathedral, a perfect location from which to stroll the cobblestone streets by colorful houses and cozy shops. Culture and history can be explored through the Ribe Viking Museum, Ribe Art Museum, Ribe Viking Center, and the Wadden Sea Center. Each night during the summer you can join the Night Watchman, when he walks his traditional rounds in the old winding streets of Ribe. Overnight in Ribe

Day 4History, Art & Architecture | Meals: B

Journey to Aarhus, Denmark’s second largest city, located next to the water on the main peninsula of Jutland. Visit Den Gamle By (The Old Town) Museum where history becomes alive, the internationally-recognized ARoS Art Museum, and Moesgaard Museum, where archaeology is presented innovatively in a breathtaking architectural setting. Overnight in Aarhus

Day 5Danish Fairytales | Meals: B

When finished exploring the Aarhus sights, take the train east back onto Funen island to Odense. Explore the pedestrian shopping street in the heart of the city, and Hans Christian Andersen’s childhood home, now a wonderful museum. Enjoy strolling the streets of this charming city – perhaps eating at the Old Inn (Den Gamle Kro). You may wish to take an optional afternoon trip south of Odense to Egeskov, a Renaissance castle and grounds – the best preserved island castle in Europe, located in a romantic setting resting on oak pillars in a lake. Overnight in Odense

Day 6Sealand Island: Roskilde & Copenhagen | Meals: B

After finishing up in Odense, train east back onto Denmark main island of Sealand. You may wish to stop in Roskilde, the island’s second largest city. During the Middle Ages, the town was the most spiritual center in northern Europe. The building of the stunning Roskilde Cathedral began in 1170 under Bishop Absalon, the founder of the city of Copenhagen. Among the beautiful chapels you will find the tombs of 38 Danish kings. Next door to this beautiful church, the Viking Ship Museum can be found nestled by the water. When finished exploring the town, it is a short train trip back into Copenhagen. Overnight in Copenhagen
