Göta Kanal
The Göta Canal is one of the most remarkable waterways in the world and one of the main communication links between Sweden's two largest cities. The canal itself is 190 km long, three-meter deep and 14 meter wide. The canal was dug out by hand between 1810 and 1832 by 58,000 soldiers.

Every passenger who cruises can look forward to as many as six memorable days whether you travel with M/S Juno, Wilhelm Tham or Diana. By completing the journey you will have experienced one river, eight lakes, two seas and three canals with 66 locks, including the unique experience of having ascended 91 meters via the ingenious locks before returning to sea level.

All three historical ships are designed to fit the narrowest lock on the canal. Built in 1874, Juno is the oldest ship still in regular service. The Wilhelm Tham was built in 1912 and our youngest ship, Diana, in 1931. They have been carefully refurbished and preserved to reflect the times when they were built. The standard may be a bit old-fashioned, but still nostalgically luxurious.

There are three cabin classes, one on each of the ship's decks - the bridge, shelter and main decks. Most of the cozy, small cabins are fitted with bunk beds and a washbasin. There are shared bathrooms and showers on each deck. Meals are included and are enjoyed in the mahogany and brass decorated dining room. The salon is a place for socializing, conversing or reading.

Much of what is experienced on this trip comes from the unique atmosphere onboard the ships. Not to mention that traveling on this hand-excavated canal between Gothenburg and Stockholm each traveler becomes part of an unmatched history that already stretches over three centuries.
