Itinerary
This is a sample independent itinerary. Guided day tours and activities are available along the way. Our Destination Specialists will work with you to create an itinerary to meet your preferences.

Day 1Departure from US

Day 2Arrive Oslo, Norway

On arrival in Oslo you will take the Airport train into the city center. Spend the remainder of the day exploring Oslo on your own. Oslo is a nature centric city, with greenery and wooded areas never far away. Besides enjoying these spaces, it is recommended you take the ferry down to the island Bygdøy to see the many museums there including the Norsk Folk Museum with a stave church. Another suggestion is a stroll through Vigelandsparken, the largest single artist sculpture garden in the world. Overnight in Oslo

Day 3Oslo Bicycle Tour | Meals: B

Explore Oslo with a professional guide by bicycle today. Take in Oslo’s major sites in about three hours in a fun and relaxed manner as you bike car-free paths, parks, quiet back streets and along the fjord. There is plenty of time for stops and pictures. The guides will not only share the history behind the monuments and buildings as you go, but cover topics relating to Norwegian culture and politics, as well as modern life in Oslo. Overnight in Oslo

Day 4Drive to the Fjords | Meals: B D

Pick up your rental car in Oslo this morning, then head out of the city going west and north into the heart of Norway’s fjord country. Along the way you can pass through the small village of Borgund and stop to see Borgund Stavekirke. This 12th century stave church is a great example of the beautiful medieval architecture that is symbolic of Norway. Continue on to your comfortable guesthouse accommodation located along the shores of the Lustrafjord, a fjord arm of the Sognefjord. Overnight in Luster

Day 5Hiking and Exploring in the Fjords | Meals: B D

Today is at leisure to enjoy the many hiking and sightseeing opportunities in the Lustrafjord region. One optional hike is to Molden, 1116 meters above sea level, 4-5 hours round trip. Molden Mountain is situated on a peninsula, out in the Lustrafjord, with a fantastic view over the fjord. The hike follows a well-trodden track through abundant scenery. In the afternoon we recommend a visit to Gaupne Church, which dates back to the seventeenth century, an unusual church, decorated with rose paintings. Overnight in Luster

Day 6Traveling the Nærøyfjord | Meals: B D

Drive to Flåm this morning, perhaps taking the National Tourist Route, Aurlandsfjellet, between Lærdal and Aurland. If time doesn’t allow, you can instead take the longest tunnel in Europe, measuring 15 and a half miles. Stop first at Stegastein Viewpoint for an amazing view of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Nærøyfjord, then head into the fjord village of Flåm. After seeing the fjord from above, enjoy a fjord safari tour where you cruise through the fjord on fast, open RIB boats. From Flåm, drive to Stalheim, perhaps taking time to loop around and drive down the famous Stalheimskleiva before checking in at your historic accommodation. In addition to a nearby small folk museum, there are options for walks and hikes from the hotel’s front door. Overnight in Stalheim

Day 7Drive to Bergen | Meals: B

Depart Stalheim this morning and make your way to Bergen on the west coast, passing through the towns of Voss and Dale along the way. Upon arrival in Bergen drop off your rental car and transfer independently to your hotel for check in. The remainder of the day is at leisure in Bergen. Walk the city streets, stopping at museums, sights, and dining opportunities. It is highly recommended to take the Fløibanen Funicular up Mount Fløyen for a fantastic view over the city & harbor. Overnight in Bergen

Day 8Cruise to Stavanger | Meals: B

Continue to enjoy your morning in Bergen exploring independently. Early this afternoon make your way to the port to board your boat for the 5.5 hour cruise south along the coast, passing mountains, fjords, beaches, and more on the journey. Arrive in port outside of Stavanger. Transfer independently to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. Overnight in Stavanger

Day 9Fjord Cruise and Hike to Preikestolen | Meals: B

Today enjoy the famous hike to Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). To get there you will first take a boat and then bus ride to the trailhead. From there you will hike independently about 3 km to the viewpoint, then hike back. The whole trek takes about 4 hours. There are many picnic spots along the way. Catch one of the scheduled buses back to Stavanger once you are done hiking and enjoy the rest of your evening. Overnight in Stavanger

Day 10Depart Stavanger, Norway | Meals: B

This morning, take the airport bus from Stavanger city center to the airport for your flight home or extend your stay in Scandinavia!
